We are seeking a General Counsel to oversee Canonical’s global Legal and Compliance function and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer COO. This strategic role requires an exceptional and commercially-minded senior lawyer who possesses deep fluency in the software industry and open source dynamics. You will be responsible for establishing and leading the legal and compliance framework within this profitable technology firm which intends to go public. This involves shaping the legal posture regarding governance and regulatory compliance across EMEA and the Americas while building a capable legal team that meets high-performance standards. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams on licensing matters and support executive leadership during Board meetings. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience within a global technology or software business and be adept at managing diverse legal challenges in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with complex legal obligations.
